Shelf Reliance is running a pretty good sale until this Sunday. I've included the items that I think are a good deal, things that I don't see very often, but would be good to have in your storage.
Shortening Powder: A #10 can is on sale for $8.61, regularly $12.30.
Fudge Brownines: A can is $10.33, regularly $14.75. A case (6 cans) is only $57.53. Just add water and bake.
Dehydrated Pineapple: A can is $10.80, regularly $13.50. Note that it is dehydrated, not freeze-dried. (I'll explain freeze dried in a minute.)
Freeze-dried Raspberries: A can is $22.02, regularly $31.45.
There are other items on sale too, but these are the ones that I thought were the best prices, and like I said, I don't see very often.
How is Food Freeze-Dried?
"To create freeze-dried food, the item is first flash frozen at the peak of freshness, then a low-level heat is applied inside a vacuum chamber. This process melts the ice crystals without changing the cell structure of the food. Finally, the food is packed for long-term storage. This process retains much of the color, texture, shape, flavor, and nutrition." -- Emergency Essentials
In addition, freeze-dried food, when properly stored, can be expected to last for 25 years! You can read more about it at BePrepared.com/shelflife
