public service announcement: raspberries

for those of you in this area, this week kroger has raspberries on for $.99 per crate. they are usually like $4 or $5 per crate, so this a great deal - stock up! i love love love raspberries and bought 4 crates yesterday (4 is the limit) and let's be honest, i'll probably go buy 4 more today....and the next day and so on.

if you think you won't use them all up in time, freeze them. rinse and spread them out separately on a cookie sheet to freeze them initially, then you can put them into freezer bags when they're frozen, that way they won't all mush together.

life caps

i don't know if anyone has used these before (and neither have i), but these could be a great addition to your 72-hour kits. according to their website, these pills can give you the life-sustaining nutrients that you need if no food is available. this could be super handy in an emergency and are in fact designed to be taken on an empty stomach and they take up hardly any space. for more information, see their website.
and since i always love a bargain -- who doesn't? -- the following code can be used at http://www.lifecaps.net/ to receive $10 off per bottle of life caps. the code is: Good Life.

a wet'n wild deal

this week albertson's is having a "mix and match 10 items" type of sale and one of the items is this ozarka water. normally, it's like between $1.29-1.39 per bottle, so generally it's not the best deal but i usually buy it anyways because it is stackable and therefore is way easier to store than the regular-shaped gallon jugs. see what i mean?:

if you buy 10 bottles, they are $1.00 each AND if you buy 10 items from the sale, you automatically get $5.00 back. i'm no mathematical genius, but that brings your total to $.50 per bottle!

remember the recommendation is to store two weeks worth of water, which is at least 14 gallons per person in your household. more if you have a pet, a baby, or other special needs. so this is a great time to stock up.
